Tekashi 6ix9ine is lucky to be alive after he was reportedly kidnapped and robbed in Brooklyn in July 2018. Even so, the rapper is reportedly refusing to help the New York City Police Department with his case, TMZ reports. According to authorities, the rapper has not responded to the department’s requests concerning the specifics of the night in question or provided a list of the items that were reportedly stolen from his home.
As a result of Tekashi’s silence, police are only working with surveillance video that was gathered from the scene. The “Fefe” artist posted several videos on his Instagram account, stating that one of his chains had been stolen. It’s unclear if police will use that information, however.
As previously reported, 6ix9ine was pistol-whipped, kidnapped, and robbed in Brooklyn while returning home from a music video shoot. Three masked gunmen reportedly forced the rapper to ride around in the back of his own car before demanding he give them money and jewelry. A reported $750,000 worth of jewels and between $15,000 and $20,000 worth of cash was lifted from Tekashi, according to early reports.
It’s unclear why the “Gummo” rapper is not cooperating with police, but he previously stated on Angie Martinez’s Hot 97 show that he believed the crime to have been an inside job. “It was like an inside job,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to set up a publicity stunt and lose close to a million dollars.”
Tekashi may not be getting his old belongings back any time soon, but the rapper has already replaced his iced-out jewels with new ones, which he claims to have dropped $2 million for.
