The Game turned himself over to police on Monday (June 8) for an alleged assault on off-duty LAPD officer Onyebuchi Awaji on Mar. 29. During a basketball game, a dispute between the rapper and Awaji reportedly led to Game landing a punch. He was taken into police custody and booked for suspicion of felony criminal threats, according to CNN. He was then released on $50,000 bail.

Awaji also filed a lawsuit against The Game, claiming that the blow he suffered may have caused brain damage. The rapper alleges that he acted in self-defense, and that Awaji threatened to shoot him. Game broke his silence on the matter back in April in an interview with TMZ.
“With police and me, it ain’t really never no peace. I am who I am, I’m out here, doing me, thugging, straight outta Compton, you know,” he said. “Police is police, so they gonna do what they do. You got some officers out there that’s straight by the book, and then you got some that don’t play right. So the ones that don’t play right, I don’t f–k with them.”
Police did not clarify why The Game was arrested two months after the incident took place.
