The Weeknd’s Grammy afterparty ended a lot sooner than expected. According to TMZ, the singer, who took home trophies for Best R&B Performance and Best Urban Contemporary Album, was celebrating his wins and birthday at a GQ-hosted event when the cops came knocking after neighbor complaints.
The party, which was reportedly held at a mansion in Beverly Hills, Calif., went on until law enforcement shut down the festivities at 1:30 a.m. because of loud music and noise from the roughly 1,000 revelers. Once the cops arrived, The Weeknd, who turns 26 today (Feb. 16), spoke with authorities and agreed to end the party. Three hours later, police cleared the premises. Though his dual celebration was cut short, it’s safe to say The Weeknd wasn’t too upset. Last night (Feb. 15), the Canadian-bred crooner took to Twitter shortly after his wins and performance of his hit song “Can’t Feel My Face” to discuss his big night.
unbelievable night. thank you to everyone that was a part of this experience. XO @TheGRAMMYs
