Thanks to a slip of the tongue from a Republic Records executive during a recent interview and a very attentive website called YourEDM, it looks like we can expect new music from the The Weeknd and his newly-reported collaborators, Daft Punk.
According to Consequences Of Sound, during a recent Billboard “Hitmakers Roundtable,” Republic Records’ executive VP and head of Urban A&R Wendy Goldstein almost shared too much info when asked about what artists she’d enjoy working with.
“Actually, we have a session coming up in two days … with The Weeknd and Daft Punk,” Goldstein said in a video posted along with the interview. “I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”
Adding even more fuel to the flame, the “Can’t Feel My Face” musician posted a picture of two figurines which appear to look seemingly like the robotic rock stars on the same day the roundtable was published.
We wonder what this music will sound like if this actually happens! Check for Goldstein’s comment around the 2:39 mark.
