T.I. has been released from the Arkansas Forrest City prison today (Dec. 22) several months before his expected release, according to news reports.
As of this afternoon, the rapper was on his way to Atlanta, where he’ll report to a halfway house — Dismas Charities Atlanta West correctional center — later tonight.
In October 2007, right before he was set to take the stage at the BET Hip Hop Awards, T.I. was arrested and charged with possession of firearms by a convicted felon, and possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers. The Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives law enforcement agency arrested and detained him on Oct. 13.
T.I. was in the process of picking up silencers and machine guns purchased by his bodyguard in the parking lot of a shopping center when he was busted by law enforcement.
Later that day, federal agents found three firearms, one loaded, in the rapper’s vehicle. They also found six guns in his East Point home. He was later sentenced to 366-days in prison. —Linda Hobbs
