Tidal is standing strong despite moments of tumult, and is celebrating its first birthday today (Mar. 29). Per a press release, the platform boasts 3 million subscribers, 20 artist-owners (including Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Kanye West and J. Cole), 40 million tracks, 160 exclusive videos and 166 exclusive playlists, just to name a few of its milestones.
Available in 46 countries, Tidal is the only music streaming platform that hosts exclusive video and audio content. As we know, Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 and The Life Of Pablo as well as Rihanna’s ANTI were streamed exclusively through the site. The visuals for “B*tch I’m Madonna,” Usher’s “Chains” and Calvin Harris’ “How Deep Is Your Love” debuted on Tidal, and “Money & Violence” and “No Small Talk” are two of Tidal’s original scripted-television series. Up-and-coming artists such as Justine Skye, Alessia Cara, Jidenna and Lili K. have gotten co-signs from Tidal through its Rising and Discovery artist section.
Tidal has also incorporated fans into the mix with several live experiences that subscribers are able to enjoy. The Pope’s visit to the United States and live streams of the Made In America Festival and Hot 97’s Summer Jam are just a few of the 44 global events and concerts Tidal has streamed.
The Tidal X: 1020 concert, celebrating the service’s 1 millionth subscriber, raised $1.5 million for social justice organizations, and has since raised awareness of relief in Haiti, Amnesty International’s Art for Rights and encouraging the youth to get involved in community service.
Those interested in Tidal can sign up for a 30-day free trial on www.tidal.com, and on mobile via the iOS AppStore and Android’s Google Play. Subscriptions range from $9.99 for a premium subscription to a $19.99 Hi-Fi subscription. Student and military discounts are available for $5.99 and $10.99, respectively.
