Fans of Tory Lanez and Joyner Lucas got to enjoy their faves square off in a rap battle that showcased the artists’ best skills and lethal punchlines. Thanks to their good-natured bout, the two will likely hit the booth for a collaboration worth listening to.
While the in midst of their lyrical warfare, the artists hopped on Instagram Live Tuesday (Nov. 21) to clarify their reasoning for starting the battle in the first place. Like previously reported, Joyner confirmed the battle kicked off after hearing the “Love Me Now” artist mention his name in another Instagram Live session. “The Joyner kid? He’s nice, but he can’t f**k with me,” Tory said. “Not on no level, period.”
With Tory dropping a freestyle to “Lucky You,” Lucas followed suit with a “Litty” freestyle. Their conversation might’ve happened before Tory dropped his own freestyle to “Litty Again” (with clever Spongebob Squarepants cover art) as he asks Lucas in the video, “At what time today would you like to be bodied?”

After sharing a few laughs and theories about Lucas battling J.Cole, the two agree that a joint collaboration is on the horizon.

Like Lucas, Tory is just as confident in his craft. While speaking with VIBE, the artist shared how he flexed his vocal as well as lyrical talents on his recent album, Love Me Now.
“There are songs that they’ve been wanting me to do and I just never did or people that they wanted me to collaborate with that I never did and I feel like at this point it’s like why not get out there and give people like a taste of what I do, you know?” he explained. “I’ve been writing for a lot of these people for years, I’ve been giving a lot of people my sauce for a long time, so it’s like why not just do this?”
