Whenever Travis Scott takes the stage, you know his energy level is about to exceed the stratosphere. The Houston native debuted a live rendition of a few songs from his current album Astroworld at the MTV VMAs (Aug. 20). Backed by his ragers clad in all black, Scott performed “Stargazing,” “Stop Trying To Be God” with James Blake on the vocals, and “Sicko Mode.” To cap off his appearance, Scott paid condolences to Aretha Franklin, who passed away from pancreatic cancer on August 16.
Scott has had a whirlwind of a 2018 and many reasons to celebrate his success. He had his first child earlier this year and his album debuted to positive reviews, even landing at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
“To everyone that came thru for this album thank u a ton! Thanks for riding with me thru this process thanks for believing in Astroworld,” he tweeted. “Remember to use ur voice today to inspire someone no matter what happen in ur past look forward and progress. Become better than ur old self.”
