Maybe it’s something in the water, but artists signed to G.O.O.D. Music can’t stop releasing new tunes.
Travis Scott teamed up with Young Thug to produce another track that you’ll soon hear in clubs everywhere. In “Pick Up The Phone” La Flame croons a terrifying build up hook, while Thugger drops a strong verse. Aided by Quavo (who raps the final verse in the song), “Pick Up the Phone” is everything anyone could ever want in a Travis Scott song.
The steel drum sounding synths match up perfectly with the haunting sound of Travis’ autotuned voice. The mesmerizing beat is aided by deep bass which gives the song a perfect buildup in between verses. Young Thug and Quavo continue with the autotuned sound on their respective parts. “Pick Up the Phone” captures the gothic trap anthems that Travis Scott songs are known for. The ending of the song comes straight out of the Book of Yeezus with a strong Mike Dean level culmination of synths and sounds that make the listener visualize an electric sounding pipe organ.

The track is magnificently produced by Frank Dukes & Vinylz. They capture the perfect vibe for a cold song documenting Travis and Young Thug’s problems with women. It is a song with the same message as “Hotline Bling” but with a different aura around it. Quavo raps the best line in the song:
“Birds in the trap sing Brian McKnight”
These lyrics are an allusion to Travis Scott’s upcoming project of the same name, which is set for release any day now. He also claims to be releasing his sophomore album ASTROWORLD sometime this year.
