Travis Scott may perform during 2019’s Super Bowl Halftime Show this upcoming February, TMZ reports. The Astroworld rapper is anticipated to hit the stage along with Maroon 5. Until recently, the band was the only group of musicians confirmed to perform at the event, which will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
According to Billboard, Scott and Cardi B were initially on the short list to perform at the show. (In the past, Cardi has said she will not support the halftime show if the NFL doesn’t hire Colin Kaepernick back.) It’s been quite a year for Scott. From becoming a father earlier this year in February to baby Stormi, to having his stellar Astroworld album peak at No.1 on Billboard’s 200 chart. Part of his success is attributed to his genius marketing skills with the added merchandise that came with the album’s digital sales. The album’s trajectory on the chart is broken down by Billboard like this:
“Astroworld, which spent its first two weeks at No. 1 (Aug. 18-25), has yet to depart the top 10 in its 17 weeks on the list. Its move to No. 1 on the new chart was prompted largely by Scott releasing more than two dozen merchandise/album bundles for Cyber Monday (Nov. 26) through his official website,” reads the site. “Each of items —including a keychain, hats, T-shirts, hoodies and so forth—came bundled with a digital copy of the Astroworld album.”
Scott hasn’t publicly commented on the Super Bowl performance, but the masses on Twitter have some choice words for the Houston native about his decision to perform at the event. Especially Meek Mill, who extensively commented on the matter.

@trvisXX as a black man, please don’t do this… for the culture. The only one that matters. OURS. I encourage you to read up on the movement before accepting this offer. They are still killing us in cold blooded murder. Don’t support a company that doesn’t support you!!!
