Trey Songz has been sitting on new music for a minute now. After teasing the unofficial release of a few loosies last week, the R&B heartthrob finally dropped a new track with “How Dat Sound” featuring 2 Chainz and Yo Gotti on Friday (Oct. 5).
Should I post something on SoundCloud in the meantime, in between time?

“How Dat Sound” is Trey Songz first release since 2017’s TREMAINE THE ALBUM, which peaked a No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in March of that year. Songz takes the chorus and second verse on the club-ready track, giving 2 Chainz and Yo Gotti the mic on the first and third verses, respectively.
Boasting a career-spanning number of hits, the sexually charged singer has no plans to hit the breaks. Making a late appearance to the game this year, Songz is making it clear that this small setback will make for a major set-up. Through subliminal messages on his social media accounts, Trey Songz will be back in full force sooner than we may think. Currently in the studio with Chris Brown, it’s unclear whether the two are gearing up for a joint album or new track, but it’ll most likely be fire regardless.

In addition, with his role as an R&B star down pat, Trey Songz is currently expanding his résumé by taking the lead role in new crime thriller, Blood Brother. The film, which is being promotionally led by “How Dat Sound” boasts a star-studded cast including Jack Kesy, China Anne McClain and Fetty Wap.
