Trey Songz visited Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club radio show to discuss the latest in his career. During his interview, the “Animal” musician seemed to still be displeased at the way collaborator Nicki Minaj came for him on Twitter.
When host Charlamagne Tha God asked the R&B singer if the rap sensation apologized to him for calling him out, Trey offered up some words on the situation.
“No, she hasn’t, and Nicki, I love you,” he said. “And Nicki said she gave me six platinum, but let’s keep it real, Nicki ain’t had sh** before ‘Bottoms Up.'” The latter is Songz’ 2010 hit featuring Minaj. Minaj claims that she was responsible for the success of the song.
“I love you Nicki, I love you,” he continued. “You came at me wrong, you disrespected me, but I love you.”
If you can remember, Minaj said that Songz didn’t do enough to defend her after Remy Ma’s scathing “shETHER” diss last month, where Remy accused Minaj of sleeping with Trey and several other men.
After deleting his initial tweets, Songz wrote on Twitter, “Even when you stay out of the way, they will have ya name all in some sh**. Wake up to new comedy everyday. Focus.”
In response, Nicki wrote “Lol, what u SHOULD b saying is that it’s not true, seeing as it’s not. Real ni**az do real things. I done gotchu 6 million plaques,” to which Trey tweeted, “You need to be mad at Remy Nicki cause if you check my Instagram feed I already denied it on video so words didn’t get misconstrued. I didn’t post anything indirect. I gathered a understanding of events and then spoke my piece. You just mad. I still love you.”
Check out his Nicki comments around the 22-minute mark.
