Trippie Redd recently voiced his opinion on Vic Mensa over the bars he spit during his freestyle at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. During the freestyle, he called out the late- XXXTentacion, who was plagued with domestic and sexual abuse allegations during his time in the spotlight.
“Tell Vic Mensa pull up. Come pull up to L.A. We want to fight,” the “Shake It Up” musician says in a video posted to Instagram Monday (Oct. 9). “Tell that ni**a pull up. Dissing passed away people and sh*t. Lame a** dude. I was kinda f**king with dude, though. I like two of your songs. All the rest of them were trash, though. I truly realize why he ain’t really pop off and why he ain’t make it to the level he want to be at. Dude really trash, though.”
Florida’s DJ Scheme called out Mensa for the lines about X, whose mother Cleopatra Bernard was in the audience at the event. Mensa took to Instagram to defend his comments, stating that he has zero tolerance for abuse and wanted to stand up for what was right.
“I vehemently reject the trend in hip-hop of championing abusers, and I will not hold my tongue about it,” he said. “I care about holding people accountable for their actions.”
