On the outside, it appears as if Brooklyn native Troy Ave is having the worst day ever. Rumors circulated Thursday (June 11) that the “Quarter Million” rapper sold less than 5,000 digital copies and 30 physical copies of his debut album, Major Without A Deal.

And while Troy Ave became a trending topic on Twitter, the good folks over at Billboard revealed that physical copies of the LP didn’t arrive in stories until Tuesday, June 9. The “30” copies rumor came from a few mom-and-pop shops stocking the album early and reporting it to Soundscan.

Troy Ave (real name Roland Collins) went the independent route and released his LP through BSB Records with a distribution deal through EMPIRE Distribution. While the project sold about 4,000 copies its first week out, it was initially released through digital retailers on June 5 to coincide with his Summer Jam performance. The Soundscan numbers represent three days of the album’s digital sales without counting the copies sold physically.
