We all know that Kendrick Lamar is the face of TDE, and one of current kings of hip-hop. But on the low, Ab-Soul’s semi stop-and-go flow, and his to the left thinking rhymes (“Terrorist Threats”) makes him one of my favorite rappers.
Other than a couple features — Statik Selekah’s “All You Need” and Game’s “Dollar and a Dream,” Mac Miller’s “Two Matches,” and “Vice City — the slim MC has been fairly quiet. Well, this week an unreleased track by Soulo has surfaced on the ‘Net, and it makes you want to re-visit his this Control System or These Days… efforts.
On “House of Sin,” alongside King Rich, Soulo spits his contemplative, imaginative, spiritual and metaphor-laced raps. It’s all done over a horror flick-esqe backdrop. It’s just further proof that Ab isn’t falling off anytime soon.
Punch hinted that all of the TDE artists have projects on deck. We hope that we get that work from Soulo, Ho. While we wait, spin this.
