VIBE’s Daily Additions to the ‘Pod
1. Kelly Rowland (feat. Lil Wayne) – “Ice”
Aside from the Weezy collabo, this track stands apart from Kell’s previous first single. Granted, the subject matter is the same in the two songs, but the beat on this one doesn’t have the instant hit factor that “Motivation” had. Not a bad effort though.
2. R. Kelly & Jeremih – “Misunderstood”
The student & the teacher of this R&B game jump on a track together. Sounds good on paper, but too bad it sounds like an unreleased track from The-Dream’s 2007 Love/Hate album. Actually, the lyrical content & vocal style on this track is extremely similar to “I Luv Your Girl.” Not a bad comparison, but unoriginality never wins.
3. Grafh – “Mary Jane & Molly”
We wonder which chick the next drug is gonna be named after. Cocaine = “Honey”?
4. Pill – “You’on Want It”
The rejected ex-MMG member finally drops some new material. However, there’s nothing really standing out here.
5. Paypa (feat. Emilio Rojas) – “Serenity”
Paypa & Rojas both trade verses well on this. If you listen to the lyrics, they’re definitely talking that realness.
