VIBE’s Daily Additions to the ‘Pod
1. Nelly (feat. Trae Da Truth & Bizzy Crook) – “Like Dat”
This beat is a smoother sound for Nelly than we’re used to hearing. “Like That” is one of those songs that makes you want to ride around slower so the bass can blast with a bit more aggression. Overall, the laid-back vibe works well here.
2. Troy NōKA (feat. Dom Kennedy) – “Feelin’ It”
While this can easily be summarized as just another song about rappers simpin’ over some chick, at least it’s done with some dope bars and ill production. This one definitely knocks.
3. Vinny Cha$e (feat. Kid Art) – “Biggie & Jordans”
“Biggie & Jordans”—cool title for a song, by the way—is meant for the clubs. This beat will really have you knocking hard after you’re too done to mind dropping a c-note on a bottle that you’ll eventually be tossing up. Enjoy.
4. Brianna Perry (feat. French Montana) – “Alright”
No pun intended, but this one is “alright” at best. While Perry & French both offer some impressive wordplay, the mediocre beat throws it with a pile of music that unintentionally ends up sounding the same.
5. Murs and 9th Wonder – “Funeral For A Killer”
Another hot one from this unstoppable rap duo. There isn’t really much to say, aside from the fact that this is the perfect combination of dope lyrics and great pairing of sounds & rhythms.
6. M. Stacks – Connected Everywhere (Mixtape)
This collection—which almost reads like a NOW! compilation for underground hip-hop—has well-placed samples (just check out Lil’ Flip’s impressive “2 Dope Boys” Outkast beat jack), some big-name appearances (Wiz Khalifa, Machine Gun Kelly), and great mixing from the album’s producer M. Stacks. Standouts include “Crusin’,” “Pimpin’ Ain’t Dead,” and “Nautica Night Club N.Y.C.”
