VIBE’s Daily Additions to the ‘Pod
1. Red Cafe (feat. Young Jeezy) – “Champagne For The Pain”
There’s nothing exactly special about this collaboration, in the sense that it sounds like something we’ve heard before. It’s not a bad song however, and the drink/smoke/get money/get girls formula seems to never get old.
2. Sean Kingston (feat. Dom Kennedy) – “Money”
It’s interesting that these two would hop on a song together. Their styles are rather different, but surprisingly mix well in the studio. Overall, this is a pretty chill tune.
3. Jaye (feat. Ab-Soul) – “Gods”
Completely unrelated, but that single cover design has Watch The Throne written all over it. As far as the song itself, it moves type slow but hits hard—most likely enhanced when high.
4. Nitty Scott, MC (feat. Kendrick Lamar) – “Flower Child”
It’s always dope when a rapper can spit over a smooth beat fit for a R&B crooner. On “Flower Child,” we get that, times two. If you can imagine a rapper kicking down the door of Heaven and freestyling over an angel’s harp, this is what it would sound like.
5. Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire – “Lost In Transition”
This could’ve knocked harder, but overall X gets point for using a somewhat experimental instrumental. It’s slightly eerie, which in turn makes it interesting to listen to & separates it from everything else out here.
6. Clemm Rishad – “American Way”
“American Way” definitely has some knock to it, but there’s something holding it back from being better than generic. Shoutout to the Obama sound bit though—we’re all for supporting the O man.
