Hip-hop songs about farming are very hard to come by, which is why we more than thrilled the viral track, “Grow Food” is heading to iTunes.
Released on YouTube back in November, Minneapolis-based nonprofit Appetite for Change spread the knowledge of healthy fruits, veggies and other farm based products over a drill rap beat. The song was created during the program’s Summer 2016 Youth Employment & Training Program in conjunction with Beats & Rhymes, a program that introduces kids to production and music engineering. “At AFC, we believe that youth are the truth. We hope this song will inspire you to explore new ways to eat, cook and grow food,” the video’s description reads.
So far, the Chancellor Tha Beast-director has won over children, educators and parents with its lines about popping bottles of water in the club and getting all the vitamins they need from milk and broccoli. It should also be noted the creative kids weren’t just flexing about the farming life. Lu Money, who raps the last verse, made it known she knows how to grow food.
After countless inquiries about the song’s professional release, AFC says they have plans to release it on iTunes in the next “24-48 hours.”
