Waka Flocka wants to see hip-hop’s current force of femcees unite on a track for the one time. The Atlanta rapper took to Instagram Wednesday (Aug. 23) to share his controversial idea, posting a photo of Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Cardi B and Remy Ma in the process.
“For hiphop!!! Redo ladies night song…..” he wrote on the social media platform.
For those who don’t know, Flocka is referencing Lil Kim’s remix to her 1996 track “Not Tonight.” Originally curated for the Nothing To Loose soundtrack, the “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix)” represented all corners of female rap in the 90s, and was later added on a 1997 re-issue of Kim’s debut album, Hard Core.
Featuring some of the post prominent female rappers of the 90s, the remix included verses from Dat Brat, Left Eye, Missy Elliot and Angie Martinez to create a female rapper’s anthem, much unlike the current state of female rap.
