As Wale prepares for the release of his fourth LP The Album About Nothing, the D.C. native revealed the first of three covers for his latest project.
Created by New York artist Sue Tsai, the cover art for the record has deeper meaning–showcasing vulnerability, dark times along his road to success and a desire for a family.
Folarin took to Twitter in the early morning hours of March 4 to urge his followers to read Twitter user (an obviously Wale’s biggest fan) DanaySaysBuyTAAN331’s interpretation of the futuristic and symbolic album art.
Peep the explanation below.
My analysis of the new #TAAN cover art 1of 3 #EBMCover…

It’s futuristic. The album is @Wale bearing his soul about his current situations/reality so the cover symbolizes hope for a brighter future

it’s simplistic. A narrow road with two sets of footprints… @Wale &Jerry obviously but really Wale and his conscious.

This symbolizes the journey that @Wale is on. It takes him battling himself/ his own demons to get where he’s trying to go

The scene is set at night but flowers are visible meaning there have been some good times along this dark journey that @Wale recognizes

The moon is there. Huge. Bright. This is @Wale acknowledging the massive impact his #Moonz has on his life. The light that they shine

The sun is rising behind the moon. This symbolizes @Wale maybe placing his dreams and goals as an artist above his personal life

But the sunrise also symbolizes @Wale‘s desire for a different light in his life. It represents his desire for and hope of having a family.
