Wale‘s third course for the year has finally been prepped and served in the form of Free Lunch. The “Shades” rapper debuted his junior extended play for 2018 with early rave reviews and features from Eric Bellinger, and J. Cole.
The moment also prompted the 33-year-old artist to have a moment of self-reflection, a feeling he claims he didn’t fully appreciate in the past. “My supporters makin me feel alive today,” he tweeted. “I truly appreciate all this love. Maybe took it for granted years ago. Never again.”

In the first quarter of 2018, Wale stepped back onto the music scene with It’s Complicated, then followed that EP up with Self Promotion. While dropping music, Wale has also given Hollywood and acting serious thought.
“Right now I’m trying to get into film and there have been some walls in front of me that I wasn’t expecting, that I probably wouldn’t have had to go through five or ten years ago,” he said to Billboard. “It’s a difficult industry. It’s also small. There’s regular Hollywood and there’s black Hollywood and trying to find your way is tough. There are certain circles. There is no rhyme or reason why this person got this role or why this person is. It’s really hard to explain.”
