Antonique Smith’s new power anthem “Hold Up Wait A Minute (Woo Woo)” isn’t just a finger wag to a bad boyfriend. In the Larenz Tate-directed visual, the New Jersey-bred singer—best known for slaying her role as Faith Evans in Notorious and belting out on Broadway in Rent—struts down the streets of Los Angeles with a message to the world.
“It’s time to take the power back for all the injustices in our lives – from Mike Brown to the kidnapping of innocent Nigerian girls and all the demoralizing issues in between,” she says. “This is an anthem for people worldwide that demand respect. Hold Up Wait A Minute!”
“Hold Up Wait A Minute” marks the first single off her upcoming 2015 LP, Love Is Everything (via Independent label 9:23 Music Group), which taps producers Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie), Danja (Justin Timberlake, Usher), Jukebox (Willow Smith, Eve) and Dr. Dre. Stay tuned for the full clip, co-starring actor Lance Gross and Vine sensation King Bach, dropping Dec. 2.
