Green Street is a hip-hop/jazz group, which consists of the talents of Boston emcees A-live and Soupa. Armed with banging beats from producer Renaissance, the Beantown-to-Bucktown transplants have been known for their innovative and infection brand of hip-hop.
Through the means of traditional sampling to utilizing live instrumentation, Green Street brings an eco-flavored sound back to culture that is reminiscent of the Native Tongues-era, while embarking on a totally unique path that resonates with today’s listeners. The tandem’s latest effort, “New Beginnings,” is the first visual offering from Green Street’s upcoming album, The Will to Win.
Born from the immediacy that comes with life or death scenarios, two of the three group members were diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses during the winter of 2012. The title of this album and the message within reflects the trials, tribulations and inspirations that were a part of Green Street’s culture while producing this effort.
