Lupe Fiasco has been promising to release his fifth album Tetsuo & Youth for quite some time now. He’s been dropping off singles like “Old School Love” with Ed Sheeran and “Next To It” featuring Ty Dolla $ign here and there, but a solid release date was elusive. According to a recent post on Lupe’s social accounts, his label was the culprit in the holdup. A few days ago, he Instagrammed (then quickly deleted) a clip of a new song with the caption, “ATLANTIC RECORDS won’t release the album until they get a “pop” single…so putting together a mini-project while they find one for me. It’s called “Lost In The Atlantic Ocean” with a bunch of my friends to stay active and happy…this a snippet called “Lilies” feat Sirah produced by The Buchannons…finishing today…”

Putting his label on blast proved effective, because today he gleefully shared a January release date for the long-awaited LP.
