
After receiving the green light from Whitney Houston’s estate, Heritage Auctions will place some of the platinum-selling vocalist’s coveted items up for auction later this month.
Billboard reports that the late singer’s awards and iconic clothing items will be up for sale, which includes her Marc Bouwer wedding dress, a Dolce & Gabbana Diva coat, and even her passport.
The auction entity shared that they worked alongside a family friend, David Gest, who helped select 119 pieces that fully encapsulates the true essence of Whitney Houston. “We gave them some ideas, they gave us some ideas, and we came up with this 119-piece collection that’s basically a retrospective of Whitney from the beginning, from when she first started singing after she left being a background singer for Chaka Khan and Lou Rawls,” Garry Shrum, the auction company’s director of Entertainment and Music Memorabilia. “We have her passport from the beginning, all these various awards and outfits, all kinds of cool and groovy things.”
An fraction of proceeds with be donated to a charity of the Houston family’s choice.
