As the race for the White House continues, Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump remains a polarizing figure for Americans. While some view the real estate tycoon turned politician as the right candidate to “make America great again” others find his comments reprehensible, particularly Suicide Squad actor Will Smith.
While on the press tour for his D.C. action film, Smith was dumbfounded that so many people could support a candidate who has called women “fat pigs.”
“For a man to be able to publicly refer to a woman as a fat pig, that makes me teary, and for people to applaud, that is absolutely f**king insanity to me,” the Academy-Award nominated actor said.
The Philadelphia native defiantly said his sons wouldn’t be allowed to live in his house if he caught wind of them speaking of women in such a manner. The 46-year-old actor continued to express his astonishment at the many people who support Trump despite his comments.
“My grandmother would have smacked my teeth out of my head if I had referred to a woman as a fat pig. And I cannot understand how people can clap for that. It’s absolutely collective insanity.”
Smith ended his ridicule of Trump by insisting that the American people don’t elect Trump as president.
“For me, deep down in my heart, I believe that America won’t and we can’t (elect Donald Trump). Of all the things he has said, and we could go through the laundry list, that was the one that was such an absolute illustration of a darkness of his soul. I just cannot figure out how people can clap for that.”
