Wiz Khalifa is reportedly working on a new album and plans to switch things up tremendously. The Taylor Gang artist recently stopped by Power 106’s “The Cruz Show” last Thursday (Oct. 18), where he revealed his plan to work on an album that only showcases R&B vocals.
“My next album is all singing. Like full on,” he announced. When questioned about how he was going to pull off an R&B LP, Khalifa confirmed he had already made significant progress. “I already got like 20 songs done,” he added.
Unfortunately, Wiz wasn’t willing to flex his vocal skills just yet, stating that “you have to warm up before you do R&B.” Even so, the rapper noted that he had hired a vocal coach to help him with the project. “Absolutely, 100 percent, I have a vocal coach. She taught me some things I didn’t even know about my voice,” he continued.
Khalifa previously released his Rolling Papers 2 project in July 2018. The album featured appearances from Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Ty Dolla $ign, Bone Thug-N-Harmony, and more.
While the rapper has showcased his singing abilities on various singles and albums, this will be his first exploration into the R&B genre. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with.
Wiz’s upcoming project does not have a release date or title at this time. Watch his entire interview on “The Cruz Show” in the video above.
