T-Pain is trying to do better than good enough. For World Star Hip Hop’s new documentary Bigger Than Pain, the Nappy Boy took a camera crew to the U.K. in 2014, offering an intimate look into his hustle. The Tallahassee sanger also reminisced on his struggles (i.e. eating mayonnaise from a jar), revealed why he snipped off his dreads and why he doesn’t make hits for the dinero.
“I don’t do this shit for the check,” he tells his squad backstage. “I did this shit for nine years before I got one cent out of it. No matter what I do, even if I fail completely, I got a higher passion for this.”
Watch Pain get out his dreams in the doc, directed by Sher Toor and executive produced by Lee “Q” O’Denat, below.
