XXXTentacion’s domestic violence case against his ex-girlfriend Geneva Ayala has reportedly been dropped in the wake of the rapper’s recent death, TMZ reports. The charges were reportedly tossed out at a court hearing this week in Florida.
As previously reported, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial for his domestic violence case, in which he was being charged with an array of crimes, including false imprisonment, witness tampering, and aggravated battery of his then-pregnant girlfriend. According to TMZ, the charges were dropped solely due his death.
X was also facing multiple counts of witness tampering because prosecutors believed the rapper coerced Ayala not to testify against him in court. Those charges are also expect to be dropped.
XXXTentacion passed away on June 18, after he was gunned down while leaving a motorsports store in Deerfield, Florida. Despite the ongoing case, Ayala expressed sadness at the news of his passing. “Everyone expecting me to be relieved or happy?! no, I’m broken,” she wrote on Twitter at the time. She attended the rapper’s funeral and vigils in Florida, where she claimed that she was harassed by his fans.
