With the exception of calling out fellow MCs to a freestyle battle earlier this week, BK’s Yasiin Bey has been quiet on the music side as of late. However, today (Aug. 14), Mr. Bey drops off new a new track, “Basquiat Ghostwriter.”

Inspired by art legend Jean-Micheal Basquiat, police brutality and social injustice that have hit the U.S.s in 2015, Bey touches on everything from cotton to freedom on “Basquiat Ghostwriter.” If you’ve seen any of Basquiat’s work then you know that his words and paintings are organized confusion, which describes the song’s free jazz meshed with rock and roll backdrop. Despite the unusual production on “Basquiat Ghostwriter,” the MC formerly known as Mos Def comes correct with his deadly and intellectual flow.

Bey released the song on A County Called Earth and had this to say:
