When the dust cleared and the nominees were announced for the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, YG wasn’t among them. And in his words, he felt like it was a “slap in the face.”
The Compton based rapper swung by Power 106 in LA recently to discuss the snub at length. “I really had the best rap album of 2014,” he told Big Boy In The Morning. “All these rappers gon’ tell you that. I should’ve gotten a nomination for the Grammys.”
“Some of them albums is wack,” he continued. “My album is better than them albums. I already knew I wasn’t gonna win a Grammy. I’m like, ‘They not gon’ give me a Grammy but they gon’ nominate me for sure.’ When I seen some of them albums on there, I didn’t really get it. I really feel some type of way.”
Eminem, Childish Gambino, Wiz Khalifa, ScHoolboy Q & Iggy Azalea are all set to vie for the top prize when the ceremony takes place next year.
