After recovering from a gun shot wound, YG lets fans know his bars are still krazy. He freed up “Twist My Fingaz,” the first single off his upcoming album today (July 16). The Compton-bred rapper took a gunshot to the hip last month while outside a California studio (June 12). He squashed rumors that the incident was gang-related, and left the hospital after one day to continue making his sophomore album, Still Krazy.

In new single “Twist My Fingaz,” YG wants to keep it real and calls out anyone who doesn’t. For example, he praises himself for how far he has come on his own doing, compared to other West Coast rappers who have made it with the help of Dr. Dre.
Peep some lyrics for yourself:
Why all these rap niggas wanna be Bloods?
Never see them in the hood only see them in the clubI coulda got a ghost but I went and got a low low
This copying-off-you rap n***** is a no no.
Per usual, YG infuses his West Coast roots into his music. In a 2012 mixtape, he wrote about the symbol of the Bloods on track “Westside 4fingaz.” His latest single takes “It’s westside 4 fingaz, 2 twisted in” even further for a signature “Bompton” track. Before “Twist My Fingaz,” the rapper received acclaim for “My N****,” the single off his first album, My Krazy Life. A year later, YG ensures his second album will be coming soon.
There you have it. YG will always be down for his hittas, and his fans down for his hits. Stay tuned for more music off Still Krazy. For now, here’s “Twist My Fingaz.”
