Young Thug is getting the artist treatment at this year’s Art Basel. The annual Miami art festival will unveil it’s Thugger-inspired installation, “Young Thug As Paintings,” in collaboration with Netherlands-based photog, Hajar Bendija.
The series features photos of Thug combined with classical works of art, inspired by a very popular Instagram account featuring the same name and concept.
Benjida began the series as part of a school project. After the IG account spread like wildfire, she joked that one day she “[hoped] to discuss renaissance paintings with Thug someday,” during an interview in the past. Now, ”1.5 years later and I’m bringing my project to life together with Young Thug himself.”
The installation, which will be shown at the 18th Annual Scope Miami Beach Art Fair, will be open to the public from Dec. 4 until Dec. 9. The On The Rvn MC’s company, Young Stoner Life Records, and 300 Entertainment are sponsoring the exhibit.
“Young Thug is one of the most profound artists of this generation and we’re going to continue to celebrate him in the most innovative ways,” said 300 Entertainment’s Head of Cultural Marketing, Rayna Bass. “Hajar Benjida’s display of Thug’s influence through art disruption is incredible. This is also a celebration of Hajar’s talent and her appreciation of the culture.”
