Young Thug has found himself in a jam. The rapper was reportedly arrested and booked on eight felony charges for illegal drug and firearm possession on Tuesday (Sept. 11), the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office confirms.
According to court documents obtained by XXL, the rapper turned himself in to Georgia police, where he was charged with five counts of violating the state’s controlled substance act. It was revealed last week that the rapper was wanted on eight felony charges related to the possession and the intent to distribute meth, hydrocodone, and marijuana. He was also charged with two counts of codeine possession, amphetamine, Xanax, and an illegal firearm.
The current charges reportedly stem from a previous arrest in 2017 in Brookhaven, Georgia, when Thugger was pulled over for an illegally-tinted window. Police subsequently found 2.5 ounces of weed, $50,000 in cash as well as the other aforementioned drugs.
In the state of Georgia, possession of more than one ounce of weed results in a mandatory, one-year sentence in jail, and up to 10 years in prison. It’s unclear whether the Slime Language artist will have to do the time, however.
Young Thug’s arrest comes shortly after the rapper was expected to appear on stage with J. Cole on his KOD Tour stop in Denver, although he was a no-show due to his recent arrest. The rapper is currently in police custody.
