According to Young Thug, Chance The Rapper and the late musician Prince have something in common. While appearing on the BET Awards red carpet on Sunday (June 26), the “Turn Up” rapper shared his thoughts on the public’s reception of the Chicago rapper.
“They been sleeping,” he said to Hip Hollywood. “I think they gonna always sleep on him. He’s gonna die like Prince. He’s gonna die a slept on legend.”
Thugger collaborated with Chance on “Mixtape” from the widely celebrated project, Coloring Book. Chance’s third mixtape was so beloved by fans, it became the first streaming-exclusive album to reach the Billboard 200. While the rapper’s accolades are commendable (he also provided his talents on Kanye’s The Life of Pablo,) to compare him to Prince is quite a reach. The Purple One’s tunes may not be familiar to some youths, but his triumphs were well documented while he was alive.
