It looks like there’s a possible collaboration in the works between two artists from two completely different music genres.
As reported by The FADER, Young Thug and Elton John might be teaming up for a rendition of Sir Elton’s “Rocket Man.” The revered melody was released in 1972 and will be re-introduced to the masses for a new generation of music consumers.
Per a source, “It’s all the instrumental, the guitar, piano; and Thug is not rapping, he’s singing. It’s really ambient and amazing.” There’s no telling when the track will arrive, but it’ll be interesting to hear what Thugger concocts in the studio. According to Lyor Cohen, 300 Entertainment CEO, Elton John shared the “Rocket Man” instrumental with the Atlanta native.
In a past interview with Noisey, John also revealed that he’s a fan of the “Hercules” rapper’s music after he heard a track of his being played on Beats 1. “It’s unexpected. I remember when Blind Faith came out, with a nude girl and John & Yoko, you had to buy it in a black plastic bag. And you should be able to do things like that but we don’t live in that kind of world anymore.”
