Zedd and Porter Robinson’s highly anticipated Poseidon tour made a stop in New York this past Friday night – where the two young DJs spun side-by-side to a packed house in Manhattan. The original tour schedule released did not have the two playing anywhere near New York City, but club promoters at Pacha NYC brought the duo in to play for fans in the city in between their scheduled stops in Miami and Maryland.
Apart from using the opportunity to debut their new collaborative track “Poseidon,” for which their tour is named, Zedd and Porter are also playing side by side on the decks, bringing out a unique collaborative nature that is a rare showing to be able to see live in the EDM genre.
It was clear from the moment the two took the stage in their matching plaid button-ups that they were up there to have fun, switching back and forth from original tracks of their own, to crowd favorites and even new mixes they’ve made on the road, including Benny Benassi’s Cinema (Skrillex remix) mixed with Silva and Quintino’s “Epic” and a homage to the Gangnam Style craze which was mixed in to Zedd’s “Slam the Door.”
The two delivered banger after banger, including Zedd’s favorite track “Le7els by Swedish House Mafia,” working up as much of a sweat themselves as the fans going hard on the sardine-packed dance-floor below them.
After starting the weekend in NYC, the two finished it out with a show in Vancouver, Canada on the other side of the country just two days later. They now head into California where they will play five shows in just four days before finishing out their west coast leg of the tour at the Moonlight Masquerade in Portland, Oregon this coming weekend.
Any diehard fan of the genre should make a serious effort to catch these two in rare-form spinning together.
