In less than a year, Detroit’s new MVP has transformed herself from a relatively unknown rapper from the D to a household name in hip-hop.
The name’s Dej Loaf and her pretty face coupled with an angelic voice makes her easy to stereotype. But, this pretty young thing is a beast in the vocal booth — and isn’t down to just be a hustler’s ride or die chick.
You already know her smash single “Try Me” by heart and “Me U & Hennessy”should be your drunk dial anthem. However, Dej Loaf live in concert is what you must experience to get the full scope of the 23-year-old’s presence. Last night (March 17), VIBE caught the rapper at SXSW’s ASCAP concert, hosted by DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon. Sharing with the bill with guys like OG Maco, Two-9, Goldlink, Lil’ Uzi Vert and more, Ms. Loaf stood out from the pack, as a lady should.
With the style and grace of a seasoned entertainer, she fired away with her poignant lyrics and buttery melodies. Dej is pretty much who every young thug wants to take home and call wifey. Just ask Lil’ Durk.
