
Earlier this month, South Carolina bred emcee Nick Grant trucked over to the VIBE offices with a Macbook filled with new music to share. Accompanied by his manager Jason Geter — who helped T.I. build Grand Hustle — the vocal booth killer gave us a preview of his latest creation “For Love” — featuring Dominic Gordon.

The song, which samples Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love,” finds Nick flipping syllables and metaphors about his love for hip-hop — and the lame rappers & washed up chicks who test his patience. Tupac also famously sampled the record on his posthumous single, “Do For Love.”

“Most of the music is natural to me,” Nick tells VIBE about his studio sessions lately. “I just think you pick and chose who you want to be, and I just choose to go this route.” He is currently working on a new project, which is slated for release this year.
