Scotty ATL has been bubbling on the underground level for a minute now. Of all the talent that’s coming out the A, Scotty may be the most Atlanta of them all. And also one of the most promising emcees to rep the city.
Coming off the Kritically Acclaimed tour with Big K.R.I.T. and BJ The Chicago Kid, Scotty ATL has been back on his studio grind. Revisiting 2015’s The Cooligan project, the stone faced rapper unveiled the visuals to the Black Methaphor-produced,”Speed Up.”
“This [song] was my way of saying that it’s always somebody waiting to take your spot, speed up yo’ grind, speed up yo’ campaign or you’re gonna get lost in the sauce,” Scotty said via email to VIBE.
In fact, Scotty’s focus and tunnel vision allowed him to shoo the Stack Moses-directed clip while ATL taking a break from the studio. This explains the raw footage of the quick video. The Cool Club tastemaker is dressed like a regular dude — black jeans and black T — and rapping on a couch from what what looks to be a graffiti-filled warehouse.
Also, be sure to catch him on #NoHandsOutTour with No Genre boss B.o.B. And watch the video above.
