The ladies love G-Eazy, and the fellas do too. Making his debut at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival, the Bay Area native was elated by the crowd, who was all-the-way ready to rage. Clad in a leather jacket and distressed jeans, the rapper’s rock star vibe went further than his wardrobe, shining through to his stage presence. Offering standout tracks from his latest release These Things Happen as well as earlier cuts, Young Gerald was ready to make his mark.

G-Eazy’s catalog meshed perfectly with the average festival goer: the lawless, stoner who just wants to chill and get faded. Openly encouraging drug use – because Bonnaroo – tracks like “Monica Lewinsky,” “Stay High” and “Loaded,” made for the perfect finale to a weekend of inebriation and lack of f–ks. Along with being a proponent of the turn up, G-Eazy also appealed to the adoring girls in the crowd who are crushing hard on the slim, 26-year-old emcee. Cue “Lady Killer” and his hit single, “Let’s Get Lost.” Coupled with an array of familiar tunes were also two new tracks from G-Eazy’s forthcoming LP. On yet another potential anthem, “Bitch You Got Me Fucked Up,” the rapper sets things straight with an easily addictive hook.
The set was also abundant in true rock star moments. From complimenting women with exposed breasts, to collecting bras, to standing on speakers, to throwing wads of money into the crowd, G-Eazy fulfilled (and likely exceeded) expectations for his first Bonnaroo run furthering his title as the “James Dean of rap.”
