Anthony Hamilton can and will turn any opportunity into a legendary one.
Most recently, he was asked to perform a once-in-a-lifetime concert for the good folks at NPR. In honor of his ninth album What I’m Feelin’, NPR invited the crooner to their offices for an unforgettable show.
Over the weekend, the R&B veteran dropped his new LP, which features production from Mark Batson and Salaam Remi. During NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert,” Hamilton and his band nailed several of his timeless hits like “Cool” and “Charlene.” The Charlotte-born singer and songwriter also performed new records off the LP.
In our recent interview with Hamilton, the Coming From Where I’m From singer dropped some gems about working with rappers like Young Thug, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Fabolous. He also offers a noble explanation about why he chose to fly solo without any features on What I’m Feelin’.
“The thing about features, is they sound good and it’s great and creative,” Hamilton told VIBE. “But when you’re touring if you got seven songs on the album and they’re all features, it’s kind of hard to tour properly. And I want to sound like the record.”
