
Singer Ilham takes a sultry approach at R&B for her new single, “Cycle Of Games.”
Partnering with Arin Ray to bring a masculine spin into this track about betrayal and heartache, the sensual track combines the smooth sounds of keyboard instruments and artificial beats to tackle the tough topics.
“We all go through patterns in relationships whether it’s friendship, romantic or even a work relationship where it gets toxic and we usually don’t notice until it’s long overdue to leave,” says the rising talent. “Where is the line drawn between weakness or strength? I felt to answer that question that I needed Arin Ray to add a male perspective to it all.”
In the Bobby Hanaford-directed clip takes a minimalist approach as the artists bring this track to life in an abandoned house. While duking it out, the pseudo-couple appears to try and connect with each other but their efforts may be for nothing.
Coming in at just a little over four minutes, the vulnerable track attempts to “push the limits of social constructs, striving to make music that gives girls voices to speak up.” Honoring the likes of inclusion, progression, and ownership of permission over their bodies and emotions, the young singer aims to be a new voice for the next generation.
“Cycle of Games” comes from the Queensbridge songstress’ debut EP, 41-10, featuring Dave East and Arin Ray.
