Jacquees declares his freedom in the new video for “23” released Tuesday (Oct. 2). Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, better known as Jacquees, is promoting the track from his debut album 4275, after achieving fame from a series of covers, EPs, and mixtapes.
“23” is reminiscent of early 2000s R&B and is accompanied by contemporary soul and R&B icon Donnell Jones, who had a hand in producing the standout track. He also stars in the five-minute video.
The former SoundCloud-singer-turned-Cash-Money affiliate opens the reel in a laundromat, where he spots a beautiful woman he wants to court. As the clips continue, Jones and the “B.E.D” singer appear in front of an illuminated 23 as the Georgia born singer talks about being too young for a stable relationship. In a special moment in the visual, the “U Know What’s Up” singer takes the time to give his younger counterpart advice about the single life.
This video arrives a week after his “Quemix” of Ella Mai‘s “Trip” was stripped from the Internet for copyright infringement.
The now 24-year-old singer is no longer 23, so here’s to hoping his thoughts on a serious relationship has changed.
