Kaytranada has been keeping busy this year — and for good reason! Just last week (Sept 21) the Montreal producer dropped an 87-minute mixtape on Soundcloud titled 0.001%. Playing off his debut album 99.9%, he had some fun playing around with sounds on that mix.
Yesterday (Sept 27), the Polaris Prize winner released the visuals for his Syd Tha Kid featured “You’re The One.”
The video looks to be 90s inspired with three women preparing for a night out featuring references to Martin and a colorful scenery you wouldn’t see today. Shomi Patwary, the director of the short clip, said via press release, “Stylistically it was influenced by the look of black sitcoms from the early 90s — from Martin to Living Single and UPN sitcoms. The African prince idea derived from the plot of Coming To America.”
