Starting off the week right, Jimmy Fallon brought his Monday night (Jan. 8) show to a close with a performance from Noname and her Chicago crew. Joined by Saba and Smino, the group brought The Tonight Show roof down with “Ace” from the 27-year-old rapstress’ Room 25 album.
The “Anita” rapper/singer launches the showcase to-a-go with the track’s chorus, singing “Whiskey with the team, got it bubblin’/I got trees in my luggage/I got tings out in London/Hope UK, what you say? F**k is you sayin’?/Oh when I say I been at the Ace hotel, you gotta tell me somethin’.”
Smi passes the Phoelix-produced single to the “Diddy Bop” emcee, who is placed at the center of this performance as she raps about the complexities of impending success in the rap industry and her confidence in the musical talent of her friends. Saba escorts the song to an end with the high impact delivery of his bars circling themes surrounding fears with success.
Noname, Saba and Smino deliver a light-hearted rendition of the collaborative track as bubble letters flash red and pink baring the album’s namesake. Joined by the presence of live musicians, the joint is brought to life.
