It’s one thing to respect the music, but it’s another to respect the artistry. Nick Lotto’s brand new visuals with director Nick von Gremp impressively marry the two. In the short film of a video for “NvG Presents: Nick Lotto,” we’re introduced to Lotto as galavants through his Harlem neighborhood on a trip. The dizzying combination of colors, warped faces and total disregard for gravity draws you in as he spits about being up next to bat.

While this is definitely a hip hop track, Lotto’s not totally bound to the boom bap genre. “Although this track is hip hop based I’ve been experimenting with many other genres and see not much reason in remaining in a one lane approach,” he said in a statement. The rapper—who also plays the drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and sings—has a bit more up his sleeve.
Expect this track and others to appear on his HandStandFlipaLot EP, set to drop on July 1. For now though, press play on the fun flick up top.
