Quavo, who isn’t a stranger to killing it on the court, dropped his new basketball-centric music video for “How Bout That.” On Wednesday (Nov. 21), the 27-year-old rapper premiered the visual to his song, which comes from his debut solo album, Quavo Huncho. In the fun flick, he pays homage to the 1996 film Space Jam, which starred Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes cartoon characters.
At the beginning of the video, Quavo walks into the locker room during the halftime of the game to find his team looking less than enthusiastic. He then reenacts the scene from Space Jam where the players take back their stolen talents through a special sports drink and touch the magical basketball.
After consuming the magical drink, Quavo’s team then comes back to slay the competition. (Product placement for Fiji Water is also seen.) Once the game is over, Quavo participates in a press conference where a reporter asks him what he told his teammates during halftime.
“How ’bout the game get geeked? How ’bout we run the whole scene? You got that?” Quavo responds, changing up the song lyrics.
Quavo became the first of his group Migos to drop his solo album in October. His bandmates didn’t follow too far behind. Takeoff recently dropped his album The Last Rocket earlier this month, while Offset is reportedly releasing his LP in December.
