RiRi’s socially charged new video gave us something to feel connected to, capturing the recent Mike Brown protests, 9/11 footage, the work of civil right leaders and even the children of our future. In between singing against the American flag, Rihanna depicts the fight and struggle we face to achieve the American dream, while still raising hope for the future. “This is the new America,” she sings. “We are the new America.”
